In 2020, the government introduced updated thermal performance requirements under H1/AS1 and H1/AS2, aiming to make buildings up to 40% more energy efficient. These changes affect how insulation is specified and installed, especially in new homes and buildings under 300 m².

• Double Layer System: A high-density R1.8 layer between the joists, topped with R5.2 insulation for maximum thermal performance.
• Over-the-Top System: A single layer of R7.3 insulation laid over the joists, creating a continuous thermal barrier.
